California

The Golden State.
The sign for gold is sometimes used as the sign for California.  Instead of starting with a "five" handshape, the sign for gold starts with an index finger pointing at the earlobe.  But this is a "flexible" sign.  Some people use the index finger as the first handshape in the sign for California; other people use a "five handshape."

Even though, in the picture, you see me signing this with a "five hand" I tend to just sign "gold" using the index finger and "y" handshape to mean, "California."
