American Sign Language:

Interview Sheet:  Dr. Vicars' "Find out" curriculum

• Find out the person's name.

• Find out if the person is Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or Hearing.
(If the person is Deaf, find out where she went to school. If she is hearing, wait until later to find out where she went to school.)

• Find out why they are learning sign, (if the person is hearing). Where are they learning sign, and who is their teacher?

• Find out where the person is from. Where were they born and raised?

[WHERE FROM YOU?]

• Find out what city the person lives in and how long they have lived there.

[WHERE LIVE YOU?]

• Find out the person's father's name.

• Find out the person's mother's name.

• Find out how-many children the person's mother and father had.

• Find out if the person is married, divorced, single, or separated.

If she is married, find out how long she has been married.

• If the person isn't married, find out if he or she has a sweetheart and the name of that sweetheart.

• Find out if the person has children.

• If the person has children, find out the names, ages, and marital status of the children.

• Find out if the person has a job.

• If the person works, find out the name of the company, and how long she has been there.

• If the person has a spouse or sweetheart, find out if the spouse or sweetheart has a job, the name of the company, and how long he or she has worked there.

• Find out if the person is attending school and where.

• Find out if the person is hungry or thirsty.

• Find out her favorite food.

• Find out her favorite drink.

• Find out if she likes candy. If so, what is her favorite candy?

• Find out if she likes to cook.

• Find out her favorite color.

• Find out her favorite movie.

• Find out her favorite outfit (clothes).

• Find out her favorite TV show.

• Find out who (if anybody) she considers a good friend.

• Find out if she needs to go to the bathroom.

• Find out she came to class. (Walk, ride a bike, drive, etc.)

• Find out if she has a car. If she has a car, what color is it?

-What kind is it? Ford, Chrysler, Chevrolet?

-How many doors?

-How many people can fit in it?

-How long has this person owned the car?

• Find out how old she person is.

(Don't worry about getting an answer, just make sure she understood the question.)

• Choose a person she knows and find out what this person looks like.

• Find out if she likes coffee.

• Find out if she is tired.

• Find out if she is sick.

•Find out if she likes to walk.

• Find out how much something of her's cost. (Pick something simple, for example: her sign language book, her shoes, her watch...)

• Find out if she likes to read.

• Find out her favorite book.

• Find out if her grandmother is still alive. If yes, where does the grandmother live?

• Is the grandfather still alive?

• How long were they married?

• Find out her birthday, (day and month).

• Find out if she likes to write letters to somebody.

- Who?

-Long or short letters?

• Find out her favorite restaurant.

-What is her favorite meal at that restaurant?

-Is the food cheap or expensive?

-Is the restaurant far or near where the person lives?

• Find out if this person likes apples.

• Find out if this person gets angry easily.

• Find out if this person likes to drink water.

• Find out what is the color of this person's underwear.

• Find out if this person likes cats.

• Find out if this person likes dogs.

• Find out how many uncles this person has.

• Find out how many aunts this person has.

• Find out if this person has a favorite aunt.

• Find out if this person has ridden a horse before.

• Find out if this person likes hot dogs.

What does this person like on his or her hot dog?

Ketchup?

Mustard?

Onions?

• Find out if this person likes cookies.

What kind?

• Find out what this person's favorite month is.

• Find out how many brothers this person has.

• Find out how many sisters this person has.

• Find out if this person has a baby.

• Find out if this person likes to eat cereal.

What kind? Hot or cold?

How often?

• Find out if this person likes to eat hamburgers.

With cheese?

• Find out if this person is hungry.

• Find out if this person feels cold.

• Find out if this person feels hot.

• Find out what color this person's coat is.

• Find out if this person's bedroom is clean or dirty.

• Find out if this person likes her eggs scrambled, over easy, or sunny side up?

• Find out if the person's pocket is empty.

• Find out if the person uses a fork or spoon to eat grapefruit.

• Find out if the person brushes her teeth three times per day.

• Find out if the person has any gold fillings in her teeth. Silver?

• Find out if the person likes to stay home on Friday night or go out.

• Find out if she prefers wearing pants or a skirt.

(If it is a guy find out if he prefers wearing long pants or short pants.)

• Find out if she cries at movies.

• Find out if she likes to take a nap during the day.

• Find out if she likes to go to church.
