Web 2.0 and Interactive Projects

MyStudySpace

MyStudySpace grew out of the culminating project for my M.S. in Instructional Design and Technology (CSU Fullerton, 2007). This brochure describes the site's purpose and technology.

The mystudyspace.org demo web site is meant to demonstrate how Web 2.0 technologies (in this case Drupal) can be used to coordinate academic support services across a campus. (Feel free to visit, create an account, and look around.)

Social Learning with Wikis

"I loved this assignment. The whole process is very engaging, informative and absolutely constructivist. Thanks for an excellent experience."

I believe in creating learning experiences that, whenever possible, incorporate the content of the lesson into the act of learning itself. I was able to develop just such a learning module while earning my M.S. in Instructional Design and Technology when the assignment was to teach fellow students about cooperative learning methodologies. Readiness and Preparation for Online Learning

The Test of Online Learning Success (TOOLS) instrument developed by Kerr, Rynearson, and Kerr (2006) measures individual behavioral strengths and weaknesses in five categories. This instrument enables students to catalog strengths and weaknesses in terms of computer skills, independent learning, dependent learning, academic skills, and the need for online delivery. Their research indicated that the test is predictive for educational outcomes in online learning. I adapted this self-test, making it interactive, and embedded it within the mystudyspace.org site so that rather than simply informing students about their readiness for online learning, it offers links to specific tools and tutorials offered (in prototype form only) on the mystudyspace.org site. (Here is a link to the interactive TOOLS instrument I developed in 2007.)

Interactive ASL Phonology Learning Module

Based on the worksheet I developed for teaching undergraduates about ASL phonology, I created an interactive Flash module in 2005. The module is accessible in both audio with voice-over narration and text, and the text is presented in a visually-interesting way that enhances the delivery of information. (Here is a link to the interactive ASL phonology learning module.)
